Almost anyone can cut a hole to inset a chart plotter and connect it to an NMEA network and 12v source, even adding multiple displays is also not difficult as the NMEA or brand network is plug n play.  the complexity starts with equipment versioning, cross compatibility, and high bandwidth devices that exceed NMEA's capabilities requiring dedicated com cables.  knowing the limitations and solutions prior to starting the project eliminates end user disappointment and wasted time by the installer.
